Ravenfield are pleased to produce and maintain both the Ferranti Shirley Cone and Plate Viscometer and the Ferranti Portable Viscometer

The Ferranti Shirley is a robust design of cone and plate viscometer which is widely used in many industries including food science, food technology and polymer engineering.

Originally designed by Ferranti and named after the Shirley Institute (based in Manchester, England) this viscometer is a true work-horse and was the basis of the prototype HTHS instrument developed at BP.
We work on Marks II & III of the viscometer (but cones & plates for all models) and have the full technical drawings and circuit diagrams as bought from the Ferranti sale!

Ferranti Portable Viscometer

The Ferranti Portable is of a Couette co-axial cylinder design and covers a wide range of viscosities. We stock this versatile instrument in all its variations. Each of these hand held viscometers is supplied complete with 9 cylinders. Replacement cylinders are available if required.

This viscometer is specified in ASTM D 3245 and we are able to supply a complete package of all the equipment necessary for this test.
