Ravenfield was founded by Mr. Jim Taylor in 1981, after being made redundant by Ferranti Instrumentation, shortly after he has completed all the preproduction work on what would have become the Ferranti Shirley MkV viscometer.

Ravenfield was founded to design and develop scientific instruments, but initially we focussed on the High temperature, High shear Lubricant measurement market offering the industry’s highest precision instrument for close to 28 years.

Steve, Jim’s son, joined the company after he graduated in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, back in 1985.

Liz, Steve’s wife joined the company just before they married in 1995.

Steve and Liz now run Ravenfield, since Jim’s severe health problems have forced him to retire from the business.

Steve and Liz’s two sons, William and Jonathan may one day also join this long standing family company.
